Overcome Negative Self-Talk

18: How to Overcome Negative Self-Talk and High-Functioning Anxiety with Dr. Ellen Wong

Are you ready to move past anxiety and overwhelm so you can find happiness?

I am interviewing Dr. Ellen Wong to talk about how to overcome negative thought patterns that lead to high-functioning anxiety.

After years of living with high functioning anxiety, Ellen eventually reached a tipping point after two hospitalizations related to burning out. Although she appeared like she “had it all together”, she secretly lived with the never-ending mental chatter that left her feeling overwhelmed, anxious, exhausted and unhappy. Realizing this was not how she wanted to spend the rest of her life, she set out to learn how to stop overthinking and reframe her negative thought patterns. She even traveled to the happiest countries on earth to learn about happiness.

Now, as a Naturopathic Doctor, a Self-Talk Transformologist® and founder of The Joy Avenue, Ellen works with women who are tired of feeling anxious and overwhelmed and guides them towards feeling calm and confident. She’s most passionate about helping women prioritize their health and happiness as much as their success.

In Today’s Episode We Discuss:

  • Factors that are shown to increase happiness
  • The mental chatter that manifests into anxiety and depression
  • How prioritizing your time and what’s important to you can positively impact your self-talk
  • Why you shouldn’t feel guilty about making choices that make you happy
  • How to stop your brain from having negative thoughts
  • Differentiating thoughts and emotions
  • What you can do to overcome negative beliefs

This conversation is such a good reminder of how powerful our thought patterns are. Even if we are taking care of ourselves physically, we need to take control over our self-talk to truly prevent the feeling of overwhelm, anxiety, depression and more negative feelings.

Remember, the belief that change has to be difficult is a negative thought pattern and a limiting belief. You can get to a place where you are happy, healthy and successful without the anxiety you are experiencing!
