57: How to Tailor Your Nutrition to How You Want to Feel with Sue Van Raes

Did you know that you can choose how you feel by eating certain foods?

Many people don’t realize that the food you eat has a huge impact on not only your physical well-being but your emotional well-being as well. You can actually tailor your food to fit your needs and how you want to feel.

Understanding your body is the first step of this process. Just because a diet or fad produced amazing results for your friend, doesn’t mean it will work for you. Just like our personalities are all unique, our bodies and their needs are unique as well.

There is more that goes into health and nutrition than calories and hormones, and in this episode of the Dr. Kinney show, I sat down with Sue Van Raes to explain how you can start to understand your body and begin eating in a way that is right for you.

Sue Van Raes, M.S. Clinical Nutritionist, is the founder of Boulder Nutrition. Sue’s credentials are rooted in science, psychology, leadership, and life experience. Sue completed her master’s degree in clinical nutrition and founded Boulder Nutrition in 2003, and has successfully merged a combination of functional nutrition and food psychology into her private practice.  Sue is a certified yoga instructor and passionate yogini.  She weaves yoga classes and yoga philosophy into some of her programs and retreats.

Sue specializes in women’s health and she aims to educate her clients on whole-body health and science-based nutrition, while also improving the overall relationship we have with food and our bodies.

In Today’s Episode We Discuss:

  • The difference between functional medicine and functional nutrition
  • How the foods we eat can influence our moods and how we feel physically throughout the day
  • How we can tailor our meals to fit how we want to feel
  • The consequences of not eating for your unique metabolic profile
  • The impact of stress on your body
  • Why balancing your blood sugar is so important in your nutrition

It’s truly amazing what you can accomplish when you nourish your body with the foods and nutrients that work for you. You’ll find that you feel amazing, you have tons of energy, you lose the weight you’ve been holding on to, and you are ready to take on anything.

I hope you were able to take some valuable tips away from this episode so that you can start eating food that makes you feel the way you want to feel. If you are interested in Sue’s retreats, you can check those out here.
