Picking a Diet Plan That Works for You

29: The Importance of Picking a Diet Plan That Works for You and Your Lifestyle with Registered Dietician, Mary Doerschner

Have you ever experienced social anxiety around eating?

A lot of people worry about going to restaurants or get-togethers with their family and friends and navigating their food restrictions when they don’t have much control over the menu options.

To talk about how to handle this feeling, I am chatting about social anxiety around eating, binge eating, and more with Mary Doerschner in this episode.

Mary Doerschner is a Registered Dietitian and is Certified in Adult Weight Management and Childhood & Adolescent Weight Management. She received her Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from the University of Delaware and completed her Dietetic Internship at the University of Northern Colorado.

For almost 20 years, Mary has been providing nutritional counseling and is committed to improving the health, wellbeing, and wellness of others. She helps her clients improve their relationship with food and their bodies so they can show up for what matters most in their life. Prior to joining Inspire, Mary has had her own practice since 2005 and has been the Lead Clinical Dietitian for the Healthcare Services Group for the last 18 years.

With an established career, she is an expert in providing Individual Nutritional Counseling, Healthy Eating Alternative Planning, and Educational Guidance for a broad range of clientele from pediatrics, athletes, geriatrics, rehab centers and long-term care facilities. Mary has utilized telehealth platforms to promote compliance in long-term weight management and has provided Sports Nutrition Consulting along with nutritional assessment, monitoring and optimizing nutritional support for the long-term care and rehab populations. Specializing in critical care, enteral feeds, parental feeds, oncology, and post-op surgical, she is also a Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab Educator and an Insulin Pump Trainer educating clients on in-home pump management, carbohydrate counting, and self-blood glucose monitoring.

In Today’s Episode We Discuss:

  • Social anxiety around eating and tips and tricks to help you
  • Picking a sustainable diet and integrating it into your lifestyle
  • How your diet and needs are ever-changing
  • Finding the balance that works for you
  • Working around medicines and intolerances
  • Getting help from professionals to reduce stress

Eating well greatly impacts our day-to-day activities, so it is important to know your lifestyle and what works for you. Like Mary mentioned, you can work with a dietitian that really listens and understands you to get the help that you need.

Don’t forget to be aware of your energy level and your physical symptoms! Recognizing these is the first step to understanding them and working with a professional that can help you take the stress out of it.
