131: Top Tips to Overcome Your Health Anxiety

Let’s talk about health anxiety.

In this episode of The Dr. Kinney Show, I want to address something that has been coming up a lot lately with the patients I see in my private practice- anxiety about your health. This is something that so many people struggle with, and I want to share some ways that you can overcome it.

I have to admit that I have a ton of health anxiety. In fact, I am probably one of the biggest hypochondriacs that I know. However, I have found ways to improve it myself and I want to talk about them today.

Getting really worried or stressed about something can upregulate our stress hormones and actually make those symptoms worse. So my goal is to help give you some peace of mind so that you can manage it when those stressful thoughts about your health arise.

In Today’s Episode We Discuss:

  • My experience as a hypochondriac
  • The importance of working with someone who really understands health anxiety
  • The power your brain has to manifest symptoms
  • Why you need to look at your symptoms as something your body is trying to tell you
  • The practice you need to do to rewire your brain when you have health anxiety
  • Ways to shift your thought process about how your body is functioning
  • Why baby steps are so important when you have health anxiety

Remember, you aren’t alone if you are struggling with health anxiety. This is actually something that is really common and there are ways to work through it.

I hope you enjoyed this episode! As someone who struggles with health anxiety myself, I know how hard it is, but you can make it through, I promise! Having someone who really understands health anxiety is vital.
